My baby photography has previously been centred around natural light and in the lifestyle environment of my clients homes. With this specialist new found knowledge aided by a little studio lighting has enabled me to now confidently offer you this amazing genre of Newborn Photography.

Only once this has been mastered can this be available. This style of imagery is captured within the first 2 weeks of a baby being born because amazing how quickly these little one's grow and unfold… Before you know it they're crawling everywhere and missed the opportunity to capture this adorable stage.

The time spent with Melanie hasbeen invaluable, not just for the technical knowledge she shared on how to light these little bundles, but for the whole approach that she takes. There was high emphasis on the safety!!! Everything that we covered was all centred first and foremost around th

e safety of the baby that is entrusted to us as a photographer, and never is to be compromised… And, quite rightly so!!!

As you could imagine, when it comes to lighting these little treasures you absolutely have to be spot on, Melanie took us through how to achieve these amazing images step by step. I'm not new to studio lighting but with every different genre of photography comes another completely different technique. I'm an advocate of “Invest in yourself” by this I mean train, train, and train some more before offering anything new… A lot of clients invest in me, therefore I always want to deliver amazing results for every single one of them. I hope you love these images as much as I do, they are even better when it's your little bundle. When she share with me her wishes I must admit that I had to sit down… A family of 15?!?!?!? She explained that the three of them (sisters) wanted something special for the their mummy and that they all had families themselves and wondered if I could work with them all at the same time. Those that know me would agree that I love a challenge so I jumped at the chance, admittedly this was my biggest family group I covered and wasn’t sure how I’d fit my more relaxed, informal style into this. Never the less I threw myself into this and enjoyed the whole experience myself.

We started with the whole group shot, that way if any of them slipped or played in any mud we’d be ok. then we broke up into individual families, this way they could all have another little something personally. I learnt later that Joe (dad of Isaac and Eloise) loves to roll around the grass

Time for a break with a cup of tea and a slice of cake. After the break we concentrated on smaller groups and more informal…..

The beauty of such a large family is that there are so many opportunities to create great images. This has to be the best job in the world, working with superb clients as the McCombie Clan was far too easy!

Today took me to meet up with Laura & Tom at Stourhead National Trust Country Park, you couldn’t ask for a better day, without doubt this was also probably the busiest of the year. With the Autumnal colours coming out for the season, everyone was there to see them in their glory.

Having met Laura & Tom a few weeks previously at the Bath & West Wedding Fair, I think we’d certainly picked a superb day to give them an insight to how I work, this is particularly important when they are choosing a photographer for their wedding day. I provide this so they have confidence that I can capture them as they’d like, and that we have fun in the process. No stiff old-fashioned photographer here, I absolutely love what I do.

Armed with Toby (Tom’s younger brother & best man to-be) to chaperone them and keep them in order we set out to taking some little pics for them. He failed miserably on this front, as the session transpired it was evident that he wanted to be in the images

In truth these guys were great fun, it would an absolute pleasure to record their day for them. This has to be the best job in the world!!!

Both of them are very keen on rugby, infact both of them have been known to throw the proper shaped ball around the paddock… Below show’s Laura demonstrating what a proper “Hand Off” looks like, watch the nose please Laura… LOL

There was still time during the shoot to check if the expected delivery had arrived, awaiting the dress for Sunday’s Christening. Hope it arrived on time.

Toby’s turn, it was a struggle holding him back……….. He looks so pretty… PEEKABOO!!!

There he is, Toby getting in on the act again… Don’t you just love the tongue sticking out when he concentrates.

This was a great honour to provide Andy with his birthday present to remember, literally providing memories to last a lifetime… Rebecca was looking to give something special for Andy’s day, something different. I could certainly say that this was going to be easy… Woohoo!!! I love portraiture

Armed with my camera we started at their home in Stoke Sub Hamdon, Somerset. We captured some great photographs of their little girl Samantha. Over night she’d received a visit from the tooth fairy, a cute little note was left by the fairy and could only be seen through eye of a magnifying glass. You have to agree, WOW what stunning colour hair with gorgeous blue eyes. A beautiful family!!! This was a relaxed but energetic shoot for sure, fun was the order of today.

Samantha was so at ease in front of the camera, great confidence and energy.

Now off to Montacute House, just down the road… A misty start to the morning. First area was onto the swing, from a distance with a little mist coming through the tree works beautiful environmental portrait. Then closing in for a little closeness but with no look to the camera provides for a little quiet moment that works well.

Not only does Monacute house offer such a variety of different locations to shoot but the Tea & Cakes are to die for. A cosy restaurant offering a lovely warm atmosphere inside but today was a beautiful sunny day. It would’ve been criminal not to be outside, warming through with hot chocolate, flapjack and brownie. Topped with great company, what more do you need?

This has to be one of my favourite locations in Somerset.When mum Holly was wondering where to capture little guy's, this had to be it. With the great choice of either the backdrop of lush countryside or country manor I could couldn't help but to use both.

Starting off with the binoculars to find the wild life, I reckon they'll be the next Autumn watch presenters!!!

Or will it be Countryfile? Great tractor, superb classic…

A little sneak peak at the latest shoot in the park, a little later in the day than usual but you’ve got to love these!!! You can’t beat a silhouette every now and then.

This week was a trip up to Harpenden, Hertfordshire. Another great shoot with Olivia and Tommy, these two are growing so fast. Especially Tommy who is now eight months, it doesn't seem that long since he was just a bump…

They are certainly keeping Caroline & James (mum & dad) very busy.

This shoot just goes to show that you don't need to go far for a great backdrop, we just went into the back garden of the new home.
